Hunter is designed to process return path information one node at a time. A return
path switch matrix is needed to achieve this. Each port of the
return path switch is connected to a test point from the return receiver. The
system utilizes one master switch and multiple service switches. The output of
each service switch is an input to the master switch. The output of the master
switch is an input into the Xcor radar. Each service switch has 16 inputs. Master
switches have either 16, 32, or 48 ports and are selected based upon the number
of nodes in the hub. The switches will correspondingly support 256 nodes (16x16),
512 nodes (32x16), or 768 nodes (48x16).
