As the complete predictive maintenance solution, Hunter with Xcor technology can quickly and
efficiently find root causes of network impairments. Arcom Digital's Xcor solution
not only makes finding sources of CPD and other network-affecting problems easy,
but is more efficient and cost-effective than traditional methods. In fact, it's as easy as 1, 2, 3:

- Xcor uses state-of-the-art passive radar technology that requires zero
forward or return dedicated bandwidth.
- Xcor eliminates the need for any dedicated bandwidth by utilizing pre-existing video
channels carried on the system as its probing signal.

- The forward video channels are also input into the Xcor radar unit.
- They go through a process termed a CPD Simulator, where Xcor calculates how CPD in
the field would appear in the return path – a CPD signature.
- The analog and digital video carriers propagate the network and create intermodulation
products when they travel through sources of nonlinear distortion (CPD).
- These intermodulation products that resulted from the presence of CPD travel
back through the return network and are received by Xcor.
- Xcor now has two signals: a simulated return path CPD signature and the real return path signal
that will contain the same CPD signature if CPD is present – although it will be shifted in time.
- Xcor then uses cross correlation to compare the two signals to see if and when they are statistically the same.
- In fractions of a second, Xcor time shifts the initial CPD signature several thousand times, and
compares the signal for each increment to the real return path signal. The results of this comparison
form a correlation function.
- A maximum of the correlation function corresponds with the presence of CPD at a particular time distance.
- The amplitude or severity of the CPD source is also calculated from the power of the return signal.

- Armed with information on the source problems that need to be fixed, the operator travels to
the field with the Xcor Quiver to troubleshoot direction and find the exact time distance to the source.
- Quiver's time distance is entered into the laptop or PDA Quiver Navigator Software containing a
database of devices and a detailed system map – thereby flagging and pinpointing the exact
location of the source of network impairment to within a few feet.
